Ulysse Nardin is proud to unveil the latest evolution of its signature Freak model - the Freak Diavolo Rolf 75 that boasts unrivaled technological advancements, high-end materials and design. The creation will be limited to just 75 pieces.The original Freak stunned the world of watchmaking by its unconventional design - its tourbillon carrousel, unusual face, the lack of crown and hands. Moreover, it became the first to incorporate escapement wheels crafted from silicium, at that time a revolutionary technologically-advanced material in the horological field.

A tribute to the original Freak model, the Freak Diavolo Rolf 75 has received its unusual name due to its power-reserve backing with its somehow devilish look, featuring red “horns” and black cloak-like backdrop.

Silicium is applied in the watch’s hairspring and throughout the biggest part of its escapement, representing the heart and most delicate part of the entire timepiece. The creators of the Ulysse Nardin watch have further enhanced its performance with help of cutting-edge technology, such as photolithography.

The new timepiece boasts another innovation in the Freak family - a flying tourbillon indicating the seconds. Moreover, it incorporates two new ball-bearing systems and a balance-wheel concept and design.

The in-house tourbillon carrousel performs one full rotation around the center in 60 minutes. The Freak Diavolo tourbillon is absolutely exceptional, being regulated by a powerful oscillator and enjoying a power reserve of over 8 days (the movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has 8 mg*cm2 inertia balance wheel).

The flying tourbillon that serves as the seconds indicator has the cage fitted with an arrow pointing to the seconds on a yellow half-circle that rotates in one minute on itself, with the zero position keeping steady on the minute indicator axis.

The two specially created ball bearing systems provide the “flying” function of the minute movement and of the seconds-indicating tourbillon with no need for a supporting bridge.

To wind the Freak Diavolo, it is necessary to turn the lower bezel, and to adjust the time, it is necessary to turn the upper bezel. The direct gear link crafted between the three “hands” prevents dephasing, or throwing of hours, minutes and seconds out of step when the watch user adjusts or readjusts the time.

The Ulysse Nardin Freak Diavolo Rolf 75 watch demonstrates clean lines, robust black and charcoal shades as well as bold accents of vibrant color. The platinum case is presented on a refined crocodile strap.
