Longines is pleased to announce it has become the official timekeeper for the 2010-2011 Alpine Skiing World Cup held by the International Skiing Federation (FIS). As Alpine ski racing requires 100% accurate timing, the brand will be present on the slopes during 78 competitions to be held in 14 countries. Longines has been associated with competitive skiing since 1933 when it acted as the official timekeeper in Chamonix. Then, the brand signed the winter contracts to act as timekeeper at international skiing events. As time passes by, the technical requirements in timing skiing competitions become more and more stringent. For example, considering the men’s downhill, the FIS demands five intermediate times and two speed measurements in addition to the final time. The Longines Conquest Chronograph watch is animated by the L667 automatic self-winding mechanical movement. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement gives an advantage of a 46-hour power reserve.

The black dial of the celebrity watch features a “big12”. It displays the date, hour and minutes. The seconds are showed via a sub-dial at 9 o’clock. The time is indicated by silvered hands. You will also see the chronograph counters - for 30 minutes at 12 o’clock and 12 hours at 6 o’clock. The face of the watch is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, with one layer of anti-reflective coating on the underside.

The 41 mm case of the Conquest watch is sculptured in stainless steel and incorporates a screw-down case-back and a screw-in crown. The bezel and the cabochon are created in black scratch-resistant ceramic. The crown is provided with lateral protection. The timepiece boasts 300-meter water-resistance.

The Longines Conquest Chronograph watch is presented on a stainless steel bracelet featuring black ceramic links and fitted with a triple security folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism.
