At Baselworld 2010, U-Boat was pleased to unveil its new impressive timepiece - the U-42 watch. It will be issued in a limited edition of 999 pieces for every dial version.The new U-Boat U-42 watch features an oversized case that measures 53mm in diameter and is rendered in grade 5 titanium. Despite such a big size, the watch is extremely comfortable to wear.

The crown system is the zest of the watch. The long crown has to fold into the case construction and is fixed by a trigger-like mechanism. Its functionality reflects the history of the watch. Italo Fontana, U-Boat owner and designer, was inspired for creating the U-42 watch by the model designed by his grandfather for the Italian Navy.

The size and length of the crown were suggested by the necessity to make it comfortable to use when wearing thick, protective diving gloves. The U-42 was developed as a reliable diver’s watch that boasts 300-meter water-resistance.

The U-Boat U-42 watch will specially appeal to those watch enthusiasts who appreciate vintage-styled pieces. This style was also inspired by the vintage design introduced by Italo Fontana’s grandfather.

The smoky-toned case of the new U-Boat U-42 watch is coupled with a thick rugged strap. The U-42 is sure to be in great demand due to the quality of its materials, manufacturing, and precision of a Swiss automatic movement.
