Rolex is one of the most widely known luxury brands in the world and the Rolex Submariner is an iconic watch. First sold in 1954, the Submariner is a diving watch designed as both a luxury and a workhorse that can withstand deep-sea pressure and everyday use. Adjusting the Submariner is easy once you have an understanding of the Rolex crown and the different crown positions.

Instructions

Hold the Submariner in your left hand, with the crown out and accessible. Unscrew the crown in a counter-clockwise direction until it is free of the screw threads. This is the position for hand winding.

Pull on the crown lightly, away from the watch. After it has clicked once, it is in the position to change the date.

Rotate the crown clockwise to advance the date. The date cannot be changed backwards, only forwards.

Pull on the crown lightly, away from the watch. After it has clicked once more, it is in the position to change the time.

Rotate the crown clockwise to move the hour and minute hands clockwise, or counter clockwise to move the hour and minute hands counter clockwise. The second hand will not begin moving until the crown is pushed in.

Push the crown in when the position of the second hand is correct. It cannot be adjusted via the crown, you will need to wait for the time on the watch to be correct.

Push the crown in until it is lined up with the threads. Screw the crown down clockwise to seal the watch.

Tips & Warnings

Be careful when screwing your crown back in---if it is hard to screw, you may have placed the threads wrong. Unscrew the crown and try again.
