To me the ease of reading the dial is very important as well. All I want is to look at my watch and BOOM, know instantly what time it is. With every watch where my eyes have to hunt for the hour and minute hands because they are camouflaged against the dial, I loose interest in wearing. I dont mind taking a couple dozen milliseconds to locate a GMT hand or a second hand on a dial, but minute and hour hands should stand out prominently.

My 116233 is Champagne Stick which I am having my local AD change it to Silver Stick. I couldn't find a Silver, so I bought Champagne. I didn't care about the dial being Champagne since I got over 40% off and the watch was unwarn, still wrapped. The Silver is definately easier to read and with the gold trim around the bigger sticks, gold Rolex coronet and gold hands, all compliments the fluted gold bezel and the Silver dial gives it contrast. The new Champagne is darker and I prefer the Silver.

That is exactly why I went with Silver Stick on my wife's TT DJ Model rolex 179173. When we were younger she had the Champagne Tapestry Dial and as we (both) got older she complained about being able to easily read the dial with the gold hands against the gold striped dial. I sold the watch and got her a Champagne MOP Roman Decorated. Not much better because the MOP was golden, same problem. Now the problem is fixed with the Silver Stick. White Stick or Roman also works well.
